MEET DR. KINAL PATEL

I’ve always believed that the best care starts with understanding the person in front of you not just where they hurt.

My background in chiropractic and sports rehabilitation has shaped the way I practice today: combining hands-on care, movement assessment, rehabilitation, and advanced therapies to help people move better, recover well, and stay active.

After more than a decade in practice, my approach has evolved into something uniquely my own. I work with everyone from athletes and active families to horses and dogs, bringing the same thoughtful, individualized approach to every patient I care for.

THE JOURNEY THAT SHAPED MY PRACTICE

My journey into chiropractic started with my own health long before I ever imagined becoming a doctor. Growing up in Canton, Illinois, I struggled with asthma and other health challenges that affected how I felt, how active I could be, and ultimately how I experienced everyday life. Sports were always an important part of who I was, but navigating those health challenges and later a soccer injury gave me an early understanding of what it feels like when your body keeps you from doing the things you love.

It was through those experiences that I was introduced to chiropractic care, and it had a profound impact on my life. For the first time, I began to see health differently not simply as treating symptoms, but as understanding the body as a whole and helping it function at its best. I had originally planned to pursue pharmacy, but my own experience with chiropractic changed that path and ultimately led me to Logan College of Chiropractic in 2009.

I went on to earn my Doctor of Chiropractic degree along with a Master’s in Sports Rehabilitation. From the beginning, I was drawn to the intersection of movement, rehabilitation, and performance not simply treating where someone hurts, but understanding why they hurt and what it takes to help them get back to doing what they love.

A CAREER THAT SHAPED HOW I CARE

After graduating, my career brought me to the Chicago area, where I eventually co-founded and spent more than a decade building a multidisciplinary practice. Those years gave me opportunities I never could have imagined when I first chose this profession. I had the privilege of caring for families, weekend athletes, and people simply wanting to feel and move better, as well as professional, Olympic, NFL and MLB athletes competing at the highest levels.

As meaningful as those experiences and accomplishments have been, what stayed with me most were the relationships I built with my patients. I learned that no two people come through the door with the same story, goals, or needs. The best care begins with listening, understanding the whole person, and being willing to adapt your approach to the individual in front of you.

Over the years, I continued expanding the way I practiced bringing together chiropractic, sports rehabilitation, hands-on therapy, movement, and advanced treatment options. That experience has given me a broad set of tools, but more importantly, it taught me that knowing when and how to use them is what truly makes care personal.

WHEN TWO PASSIONS CAME TOGETHER

Animals have always held a special place in my life, so bringing them into my professional world felt like a natural extension of who I already was. In 2018, I completed specialized education in animal chiropractic through Options for Animals and began caring for horses and dogs alongside my human patients.

What started as another area of my education quickly became one of the most rewarding parts of my career. There is something incredibly special about earning an animal's trust and watching their movement, comfort, and confidence change through care.

And while treating people and animals may seem like two very different worlds, I've found them to be remarkably connected. Whether I'm working with an athlete on two legs or four, I'm looking at movement, biomechanics, compensation, recovery, and performance. Working with animals has also made me a better doctor. They can't tell you where something hurts, you have to slow down, observe, feel, and truly listen in a different way.

FINDING HOME IN UTAH

After many years of building my life and career in Chicago, I found myself ready for a new chapter. That chapter brought me west to Utah and eventually to the Wasatch Back, where the mountains, active lifestyle, and close-knit community felt like a natural fit for both the life I wanted to live and the kind of practice I wanted to create.

Heber Valley Chiropractic represents so much more to me than opening another office. It's the culmination of everything I've learned throughout my career and an opportunity to practice in a way that feels genuinely personal. I want my patients to feel heard, never rushed, and confident that the care they receive has been thoughtfully designed around them.

Today, I feel incredibly fortunate to care for athletes, families, horses, and dogs throughout Heber Valley and Park City. In many ways, this practice has brought together all the pieces of my life; my love of movement and sports, my experience in rehabilitation, my connection with animals, and my belief in truly individualized care.

And after a career that has taken me in directions I never could have predicted, it feels pretty special to have found a place where all of those pieces finally feel at home.
